HOW TO READ THIS MODEL

The system, explained.

The U.S. EPA/GRI process overview and SLB's general systems description distinguish wet-gas contact, optional flash-gas separation, rich-glycol conditioning, regeneration and lean return. This original scene reuses our independently authored contactor, optional flash tank, still/reboiler, shell-and-tube exchanger and centrifugal pump models at invented locations and scales. Two hollow schematic envelopes mark filter and cooler roles. Twelve static hollow routes connect declared source-part centres and role endpoints, with a separate water-vapor and optional flash-gas boundary. The routes and arrows teach vocabulary and comparison; they are not selected piping, process flow, a heat/mass balance, a complete controls or vent-handling system, or a matched Alberta plant.

Model scope and limits

Original 802-mesh teaching scene assembled from five independently authored detailed GLBs plus two schematic role envelopes, four open boundary markers and twelve hollow static relationship routes. The imported models are deliberately rescaled and are not selected or compatible equipment. Route endpoints agree with source-part centres and graph records but do not specify flanged mating, controls, instruments, operating conditions or fabricated pipe. The flash tank is optional; its gas and the regenerator overhead end at open boundaries. No chemical composition, glycol concentration, dewpoint, heat duty, exchanger or pump duty, flow, temperature, pressure, filtration, cooling, gas capture, condenser/vent treatment, emissions permit, relief, shutdown, containment, pressure rating, safe operation, named plant or complete process design.

GUIDED COMPONENT STUDY

Trace the system.

Read each explanation, then focus its component in the explorer. This is a learning route through the model, with no operating or maintenance sequence.

  1. Enter through the wet-gas boundary

The blue route ends at the independently authored contactor inlet-flange centre. It is a static teaching relationship, not feed-gas analysis, pressure control or a fabricated line.

  2. Inspect the detailed contactor

The 258-part reused contactor has distinct gas and glycol boundaries and bubble-cap markers. Its invented scale in this scene does not prove water removal or match the downstream assets.

  3. Follow rich glycol toward an optional vessel

Gold connects the contactor-rich boundary to the optional 73-part flash-tank concept. No pressure letdown, fluid composition, pipeline or actual installed vessel is established.

  4. Keep flash gas separate

The flash-gas branch ends at an open marker. No fuel use, recovery, vent control, destination or emissions reduction is modeled.

  5. Find the rich-side filter role

This hollow envelope marks a possible filtering role only. No filter element, selected rating, solids capture or maintenance path is inside it.

  6. Compare the exchanger sides

The original detailed shell-and-tube model is reused to show two declared glycol-side relationships. Its dimensions, duty and pass arrangement are not selected for these vessels.

  7. Enter the still and reboiler

The original 48-part assembly has separate rich feed, overhead and lean outlet boundaries. It has no burner, heat-duty calculation, condenser or emissions treatment.

  8. Follow the lean-return side

A cyan static route leaves the still/reboiler outlet toward the exchanger-role tube-side marker. It does not show lean concentration, temperature or a qualified connection.

  9. Find circulation and cooling roles

The original centrifugal-pump model is reused beside a separate schematic cooler. No pump curve, driver, cooling duty, circulation or compatible service is demonstrated.

  10. Return to the upper contactor boundary

The declared lean-return path reaches the contactor inlet region. This closes the diagram visually, not a mass balance, operating cycle, control system or built dehydration plant.

CONNECTED PROCESS LESSON

Follow a glycol dehydration and regeneration circuit

Original connected teaching layout using five independently authored detailed models and two schematic role envelopes. The optional flash tank, equipment scale and paths are illustrative, not a matched or operating Alberta installation.

Color and static arrows identify declared relationships only. The model has no measured flow, live plant data or industry color standard. This is not a P&ID or matched operating plant. Glycol concentration, heat and mass balance, pressure control, vent treatment, relief, shutdown, containment and actual drying results remain outside this scene.
