HOW TO READ THIS MODEL

The system, explained.

This original insert-style concept distinguishes a stationary barrel and standing valve from a moving plunger and travelling valve. Hollow sleeves, cage windows and discharge ports make their geometric relationships inspectable. The plunger and ball-position controls are independent illustrations; they do not reproduce a pressure-responsive pumping cycle. Follow the component study, then return to the surface beam unit.

Model scope and limits

Invented insert-style geometry, neutral ball-seat poses and independent plunger/ball displacement controls. No hydraulic or valve-timing simulation, measured stroke, clearance/pressure rating, seal performance, material pairing, wear/loading analysis or manufacturer equivalence. Full tubing and sucker-rod string, hold-down/retrieval mechanism, gas anchor, intake screen and well geometry are outside this model.

GUIDED COMPONENT STUDY

Trace the system.

Read each explanation, then focus its component in the explorer. This is a learning route through the model, with no operating or maintenance sequence.

  1. Separate the barrel from the plunger

The hollow barrel remains stationary around a smaller hollow plunger. Reveal internals removes the barrel enclosure; half section provides another view. The drawn radial gap is a teaching choice, not a pump clearance specification.

  2. Identify the lower intake boundary

The open neck leads toward a fixed carrier and standing-valve seat. It marks the limit of this model. A real installation also depends on its intake, gas handling, seating and the well; those systems are not supplied here.

  3. Inspect the fixed seat

A separate annulus surrounds the standing-valve bore. In rod-pump terminology this stationary valve admits fluid into the barrel chamber and resists downward return. The model identifies that component; it does not calculate pressure, leakage or flow.

  4. Compare the ball with its cage

Four real side windows and an open crown surround the ball. The independent ball-lift control separates the ball from its seat geometrically. It gives no hydraulic timing, opening pressure, impact or service procedure.

  5. Trace the moving sleeve

The plunger is one continuous hollow sleeve with shallow exterior grooves. Move the plunger-position slider to inspect its placement within the barrel. The rod connection and travelling-valve group move together; the slider represents no measured stroke or production rate.

  6. Distinguish the travelling valve

This second seat and ball belong to the moving plunger assembly. Its position differs from the stationary standing valve. The two independent ball controls are component illustrations and should not be read as the states of an actual pumping cycle.

  7. Find the upper discharge openings

Four bored side ports connect the hollow plunger neck toward the space above it. The top adapter lies above these ports. Port shape and placement are invented; they establish no capacity, pressure drop or suitability for sand or gas.

  8. Follow the connection to the surface

The shortened rod and coupling mark a connection toward a sucker-rod string. Open the surface beam-unit lesson to compare component roles. The two models do not describe a matched installation or include the complete rod string, tubing, well or fatigue design.
